On behalf of a roofing manufacturing client, Tora conducted wastewater regulatory reviews across multiple locations—including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Minnesota, and Texas—to determine requirements for discharging additional wastewater generated by asphalt tank cleaning and hydrotesting activities.
Tora engaged directly with local and state agencies to secure sanitary district approvals and/or wastewater permits, enabling the periodic wastewater to be discharged to local POTWs. These solutions offered significant cost savings compared to containerizing and hauling the material off-site for disposal.
The range of approaches varied by jurisdiction—from submitting waste characterization data and event documentation to local authorities, to preparing and submitting full wastewater permit applications. Tora also facilitated communication between plant staff and local agencies and developed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to document discharge requirements and logistics, including hose connections, pump usage, and designated discharge locations.
