Tora assisted a client in re-permitting two facilities to allow for the temporary flaring of sour gas after they lost their contractual agreement to send it off-site for processing. Sour gas refers to natural gas containing hydrogen sulfide or other sulfur compounds that require treatment before use.
We prepared Title V air permit applications for both sites following the issuance of construction permits. Because these were the first Title V facilities in the client’s portfolio, Tora also developed a deviation tracking and reporting system—used to monitor and report departures from permitted conditions, as required under federal air regulations.
Once the client secured a new customer for their sour gas, Tora updated the construction permits to reflect the return to standard operating conditions and successfully voided the Title V permits, eliminating the associated regulatory burden.
